While all of these measures were meant to protect people from getting the viruses and to prevent further spreading of the Corona Virus, it also affected the livelihood of people. Many lost their jobs while many businesses closed. Others were able to come up with a temporary solution by asking their employees to work at home and to communicate remotely.
Years ago, the concept of working at home is just a means of earning extra income: work outside one's main work. But given the present situation, it seems that companies are inclined to adapt to this work at home system on a semi-permanent basis. By working at home, many of the office processes can be done remotely. Offices that are already utilizing digital processing of data would need to setup a cloud storage that would serve as a centralized repository of files and documents. Communication can be done through email, messaging apps, collaboration tools, even social media. On the other hand, offices that are still using the traditional, paper-based operations would need to upgrade their system and transition to digital processing, which is more difficult but necessary. However, there are still a part of the operation that needs to be done as is, such as delivery of goods and services, and the manufacturing.
Until such time that the pandemic is not over, work at home is gonna be the new norm.
